Soria pine forests

This is our second long-distance route proposal. It is a linear route, for advanced cyclists, of three weeks, and in this section we pedal along the mountains that separate the basins of the rivers Duero, Tagus and Guadiana, and those of the river Ebro.

From the city of Burgos, we travel almost 1000 km to Albacete, we discover the sources of the rivers Arlanza, Guadalaviar, Tagus, and Júcar, the Atapuerca archaelogical site, the Celtiberian ruins of Numancia, or the Lagunas de Ruidera Natural Park. We rode along the greenways of La Demanda, the Santander-Mediterranean, or the Sierra de Alcaraz, through the Geopark of the Molina de Aragón-Alto Tajo region, and the Mancha Húmeda biosphere reserve.

The Comarca de Molina de Aragón-Alto Tajo is a  Geopark.

Medinaceli is part of the network of the most beautiful towns in Spain.

Duruelo de la Sierra, Molina de Aragón and Orihuela del Tremedal are part of the network of the magical towns of Spain.

The cathedral of Burgos, the archaeological site of Atapuerca, and the Historic walled town of Cuenca, are World Heritage Sites.

Moreover, we recall you that Burgos, and Cuenca were Spanish Capitals of Gastronomy.

From 2015, Burgos is a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.

La Mancha Húmeda is a Biosphere Reserve.

The Tremedales de Orihuela, and the Lagunas de Ruidera are protected wetlands according to the RAMSAR Convention. This route runs through the Sierra de la Demanda, the Páramo de Layna, the Lagunas y parameras del Señorío de Molina, and the Serranía de Cuenca, sites classified as SCI (Site of Community Importance) and SPA (Special Protection Area) in the Natura 2000 network. Also, runs along the Sabinares Sierra de Cabrejas, the Quejigares y encinares de Sierra del Madero, the Sabinares de Ciria-Borobia, the Encinares de Sierra del Costanazo, the Quejigares de Gómara-Nájima, and the Sabinares rastreros de Alustante - Tordesilos, all of them classified as SCI; as well as the Altos Campos de Gómara, and San Clemente, protected areas as SPA.
