Travel with Bicicletos

Bicicletos

BICICLETOS VIAJES comes from a group of friends united by their passion for cycling.

This project was built around a world tour by bike that involved more than 28 people over more than ten years.

It is from this experience that we want to invite everyone to discover the world from the saddle of a bicycle.

How?

Our idea is to inspire, share, and train the practice of adventure cycling with all those who want to enjoy a good bike ride in the outdoors. In this sense, routes that we propose are characterized by:

Leave No Trace

Maximum respect for the ENVIRONMENT, following the recommendations of Leave No Trace movement.

Sello MESM

Support for the SOCIAL AND SOLIDARITY ECONOMY, including consumption of local food, goods and services, generating community employment and development

Custodias del Territorio

Support for the LAND STEWARDSHIP as a tool to fight against climatic and ecological emergency by protecting the natural, cultural and landscape values of the territories where we cycle.

For who?

We design routes for active people, who can ride on a bike and want to explore the world. At no time is a race and no one is left behind. We have established a guideline with four levels of difficulty:

* Beginner, for people who already know how to ride on bike and want to try the experience. We usually cycle by tracks in good condition, greenways or local roads with little traffic, without technical difficulties and basically flat terrain. Stages are from 20 to 40 km and we pedal about 3-4 hours a day. IBP index 0-13.
* Moderate, a modest activity for those that already know what this is. Routes run almost always by trails of varied terrain and road stretches, mostly local ones, and perhaps some technical steps. Stages are lengthened up to 30-50 km, and we ride on 4-6 hours per day. IBP index 14-25.
* Challenging, a route designed for regular riders. Tour runs mostly along tracks and paths, with ramps, short trials or sections with hard conditions. We can ride some km on roads, usually mountain passes. Average day is about 40-60 km, that means 5-7 hours of pedalling. IBP index 26-38.
* Demanding, in general terms, these are classic rides in the peninsula and abroad. We ride on difficult terrain, mountain passes are long, roads are shared with more traffic. Route and environment hardness require about 6-8 hours on a bike to cover 60-80 km a day. In some cases we have a supporting vehicle. IBP index 39-50.

To get the starting point of the route we will use public transport, train or bus, wherever possible. We stay in homestays and establishments of mid-range grade. However, when a majority of participants were interested, we agree changes in the modes of transportation and lodging. We wake up very early and ride, with stops every 1, 5-2 hours to hydrate us and eat something light. We pack light, in the bags we carry on only basic spare parts and tools for our bikes, warm clothes, raincoats, changes. Guide will load a first-aid kit and a more complete set of tools. Meals will be in group, tasting local cuisine or preparing something by ourselves, depending on the possibilities. We invite you to participate and to discover THE WORLD AT A PEDAL STROKE.
