This is a 3 days, circular route, for intermediate cyclists with effort capacity of rolling by the Serrania of Cuenca, and enjoy of the most attractive geological formations of the Peninsula.
Their 22 sinkholes, 7 lakes, pines and savin juniper trees, or the paleontological site of "Las Hoyas" are some of the good reasons for pedalling by these mountains. From the city of Cuenca, wem will head first upstream the gorges of the Júcar river, we will visit the Enchanted City rock formations, and then get Uña and its charming lagoon. From there wem will climb to the Tierra Muerta (Dead Land) and explore their lagoons of Cañada del Hoyo and the sinkholes of Palancares. We will finish riding on back to Cuenca by the gorges of the Huécar river.
Since 2001 Los Palancares and Tierra Muerta is a Natural monument, and since 1996 the Historic walled town of Cuenca is a World Heritage Site.
In addition, we remind you that Cuenca is the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2023.
This route runs through the Cuenca mountains, a site classified as SCI (Site of Community Importance) and as SPA (Special Protection Area) in the Natura 2000 network.
Day 1.- Transportation to Cuenca. Ride from Cuenca to Uña (40 km). Visit to the Enchanted City. Lodging.
Day 2.- Ride from Uña to Cañada del Hoyo (51 km). Visits to the archeological site of Las Hoyas, and the lagoons of Cañada del Hoyo. Lodging.
Day 3.- Ride from Cañada to Cuenca (35 km). Visits to singular trees and the sinkholes of Palancares. Transportation back home.
