Txingudi Bay from Jaizkibel

Txingudi Bay from Jaizkibel

This is a linear route, lasting one week, for advanced cyclists who want to ride on the edge of cliffs, estuaries and bays. In our second great proposal in Euskadi, after the route through the Basque mountains, we are going to pedal along the entire Basque coast, from Bilbo to Baiona. Starting from the mouth of the Nervión River, we discover a Geopark, enjoy thalassotherapy, visit the Urdaibai biosphere reserve, and visit some fortresses or famous television series settings. In the bay of Txingudi we join the EuroVelo 1 until the mouth of the river Adour, on the other side are the Landes, and route up to the North Cape.

The Basque coast is a Geopark.

Hondarribia is part of the network of Medieval Cities and Villas.

Since 2006 the Suspension Bridge is a World Heritage Site.

Since 2014, Bilbao has been a UNESCO Creative City of Design.

Since 1984, Urdaibai is a Biosphere Reserve.

The Mundaka-Guernika and Txingudi estuaries are wetlands protected by the RAMSAR Convention, in addition to being classified as SCI (Site of Community Importance) and also as SPA (Special Protection Area) within the Natura 2000 Network. Moreover, this route runs through the Estuaire de la Bidassoa et baie de Fontarabie, Domaine d'Abbadia et corniche basque, La Nivelle, Falaises de Saint-Jean-de-Luz à Biarritz, spaces also classified as SCI.
