This is a circular, 2-days route, for beginners and all those that want to enjoy of a good place where sightseeing birds.
The old 'Mar de Campos', one of the biggest wetland of the peninsula, was dried on the 60s of the past century, and now has been recovered in the form of the La Nava lake. This important lagoon hosts a multitude of water birds, and currently has an inventory with 222 species of birds, representing 41% of all species present in Spain. A covered hut of observation allows us birdwatching throughout all the year.
La Nava lake is a protected wetland according to the RAMSAR Convention, as well as being listed as SCI (Site of Community Importance) and SPAB (Special Protection Area for Birds) in the Natura 2000 Network.
Day 1.- Transportation to Palencia. Ride from Palencia to Fuentes de Nava (30 km). Visits to the la Nava lake and the Park House of Fuentes de Nava. Lodging.
Day 2.- Ride from Fuentes to Palencia (30 km). Visits to the la Nava lake and the museum of the Water of Palencia. Transportation back home.
