This is an easy linear route, lasting between three and six days, for initiated cyclists, that begins in Alar del Rey (Palencia), and after traveling the North branch, it detours along the Campos branch to Medina de Rioseco (Valladolid), or along the South branch to the city of Valladolid.
We pedaled along the towpaths of the Canal de Castilla, where mules pulled the boats that navigated the most ambitious engineering work of the 18th century. And we will visit countless locks, ruins of mills and electricity factories, and the Castilian towns of Frómista, Palencia, Dueñas or Paredes de Nava.
Frómista and Becerril de Campos are part of the magical towns of Spain network.
This route runs through the Canal de Castilla, and its Lagoons of the Canal de Castilla, sites classified as SCI (Site of Community Importance); and also the Lagoons of the Canal de Castilla, are areas protected as SPA (Special Protection Area) in the Natura 2000 network.
The availability of accommodation every 20-40 km on the North and South branches, and every 50-60 km on the Campos branch, make this itinerary ideal to be ADAPTABLE to the needs of each traveler, including families and senior cyclists.
