Riding on by the canal

Riding on by the canal

This is a one week, linear route, one week, for initiate riders, used to long stages.

We ride on along the canal from Nantes to Brest, a work of the 19th century, that passes through the centre of the peninsula of Brittany. Inspired by Napoleon, to be able to supply the arsenals of the port of Brest avoiding the English fleet, it crosses four river basins along 320 km of towpaths and 236 locks. We start pedaling in Nantes, to continue among the greeneries and rains that characterize this region, along a unique natural environment to finish in the charming town of Châteaulin. Finally, we will enjoy a well-deserved day of rest in Nantes.

This route runs through Parc naturel régional d’ArmoriqueVallée de l'Aulne, Complexe de l'est des montagnes noires, Forêt de Quénécan, vallée du Poulancre, landes de Liscuis et gorges du Daoulas, Marais de Vilaine, and Marais de l'Erdre, sites classified as SCI (Site of Community Importance) in the Natura 2000 network.
