This is a 7-days, circular route, for advanced cyclists, that runs through the Villuercas-Ibores-Jara Geopark, one of the few scenarios in the world where you can appreciate the Appalachian geological landscape.
We start rolling from the banks of the Tagus River, at Puente del Arzobispo, to get Guadalupe and visit this monumental village and its famous Monastery, a World Heritage Site. From here we cross a set of mountain ranges: Villuercas and Ibores, to finally get La Jara region, where we cycle on the Tagus river Natural Trail, to finish back on Puente del Arzobispo.
Since 1993 the Royal monastery of Saint María de Guadalupe is a World Heritage Site.
The region of Villuercas-Ibores-Jara is a Geopark.
This route runs through Sierra De Las Villuercas and Guadarranque river valley, sites classified as SCI (Site of Community Importance) and as SPA (Special Protection Area) in the Natura 2000 network.
Day 2.- Ride from Navatrasierra to Guadalupe (41 km), by the Sierra De Las Villuercas and Guadarranque river valley. Visit to the monastery of Guadalupe. Lodging at the monastery guest quarters.
Day 3.- Rest day in Guadalupe. Lodging at the monastery guest quarters.
Day 4.- Ride from Guadalupe to Cabañas del Castillo (38 km), climb up to Villuercas peak. Lodging.
Day 5.- Ride from Cabañas to Castañar de Ibor (29 km). Visit to the Visitors Center Castañar cave of Castañar de Ibor. Lodging.
Day 6.- Ride from Castañar to Villar del Pedroso (45 km). Lodging.
Day 7.- Ride from Villar to Puente del Arzobispo (16 km). Visit to the Ceramics Visitors Center of Puente del Arzobispo. Farewell lunch. Transportation back home.
