Baños de Montemayor and the Sierra de Béjar
This is a very simple weekend route for beginners who want to spend a couple of days resting and taking care of themselves at the Baños de Montemayor hot springs (Cáceres).
Of course, we go and return by bike. Leaving the city of Béjar we take the greenway Via de la Plata and then a local road that takes us to Baños de Montemayor. This ancient Roman settlement offers us its past, its rural architecture, its road and its hot springs. We return from another interesting town, Hervás, or if we are very lazy, by bus.
Since 2006, the Béjar and Francia mountain ranges have been a Biosphere Reserve.
Day 1.- Transport to Béjar. Ride to Baños de Montemayor (17 km), by the vía de la Plata greenway. Visit to Baños de Montemayor. Lodging.
Day 2.- Ride from Baños de Montemayor to Hervás (10 km), by the vía de la Plata greenway. Visits to the Jewish quarter of Hervás. Transport back home.
