This is a linear route, for a weekend with an additional day for transportation, that starts in Riaza, climbs up to the Ayllón mountain range across the Quesera pass, and then descends by asphalted forest trails to Majaelrayo, at the foot of the Ocejón peak, the roof of Guadalajara.
On next day it goes up by the Jarama river headwaters to the Alto del Porrejón, and goes down to Buitrago de Lozoya passing through some little villages of the Northern mountains of Madrid.
This route runs through the Ayllón mountains, a site classified as SCI (Site of Community Importance) and SPA (Special Protection Area) in the Natura 2000 network.
Day 1.- Transportation to Riaza. Ride from Riaza to Majaelrayo (41 km). Ascent to La Quesera pass through the Ayllón mountain range. Visit to the Pedrosa beech forest. Lodging.
Day 2.- Ride from Majaelrayo to Buitrago de Lozoya (62 km). Visit to the Herbalist School El Rincón Silvestre in Prádena, and the city walls of Buitrago. Transportation back home.
