Die Algarve mit dem Fahrrad

This is one of our first proposals in Portugal: a one-week, linear route, for moderate cyclists, that runs the Algarve region from Huelva to the Cape of Saint Vincent.

Linking bike lanes, small roads and the Ecovia that extends all the coastal Algarve, we will enjoy a landscape of salt flats and marshes of the Natural Park of Ria Formosa. For one day and from Faro, we will take a detour from a too urbanized coast, and move towards inland to visit Silves, the ancient muslim capital of the Algarve. Back to the coast in Lagos, we will get in the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast until we will reach the European finisterre.

And we recall that Huelva was the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2017.

Ria Formosa Natural Park and Ria de Alvor, are protected wetlands according to the RAMSAR Convention. This route runs through El Portil Lagoon Nature Reserve, Arade / Odelouca, and Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park, sites classified as SCI (Site of Community Importance); also by Odiel marshes, Piedras river marshes Natural Site and Flecha del Rompido, Isla Cristina marshes Natural Site, and Ria Formosa, are areas protected as SPA (Special Protection Area) in the Natura 2000 network.
