This is the second of our first proposals in Portugal: a two-weeks, linear route, for intermediate cyclists, that runs across the southern coast of the country from Lisbon to Sagres.
Linking bike lanes, dirt and small roads, we will enjoyed one of the best preserved coastal landscapes of Europe. From Lisbon we will pedal through the estuaries of the rivers Tagus and Sado, entering then in the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine coast, with its spectacular beaches and cliffs, reaching finally the Cape of St. Vincent: the European finisterre.
Since 1983 the Monastery of the Hieronymites and the Tower of Belém in Lisboa, are World Heritage Sites. And since 2002, the bay of Setúbal has been a member of the Club of the most beautiful bays in the world. And we recall you that Huelva was the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2017.
Sado Estuary Nature Reserve, and Lagoons of Santo André and Sancha Nature Reserve are protected wetlands according to the RAMSAR Convention, as well as being listed as SCI. Besides, this route runs through Arrabida Natural Park, Pedreira do Avelino Natural Monument, Comporta / Galé, and Southeast Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park, sites classified as SCI (Site of Community Importance); and also Albufeira Little lagoon, Santo Andre lagoon, and Southeast Coast, are areas protected as SPA (Special Protection Area) in the Natura 2000 network.
Die Verfügbarkeit von Unterkünften alle 20–40 km macht diese Reiseroute ideal und lässt sich an die Bedürfnisse jedes Reisenden, einschließlich Familien und älterer Radfahrer, ANPASSEN.
