The castle of Alange
This is an easy, weekend route for initiated cyclists who want to spend a couple of days resting and taking care of themselves in the Alange hot springs (Badajoz).
Of course, we go and return by bike. Starting from the monumental city of Mérida we take the Guadiana Nature Trail and then some local roads that take us to Alange. This ancient Roman settlement offers us its past, its rural architecture, its Roman road and its baths.
This route runs through the Guadiana Alto-Zújar river, a site classified as SCI (Site of Community Importance) in the Natura 2000 network.
Day 1.- Transport to Mérida. Ride to Alange (24 km), along the Guadiana Nature Trail. Visit to the Alange thermal baths. Lodging.
Day 2.- Ride from Alange to Mérida (24 km), along the Guadiana Nature Trail. Visits to the monumental city of Mérida. Transportation back home.
