Der Gipfel San Pedro von Colmenar Viejo
This is a demanding, linear route, that takes us in two day's ride from the borderline of highest summits of the community of Madrid, in Montejo de la Sierra, to the outskirts of the capital city, in the forests of the Soto de Viñuelas, just near Tres Cantos.
Following royal cattleroads, we can see the landscape changes from the oak forests of the Sierra Norte to the brushwoods and pasturelands of the surroundings of Madrid.
Miraflores de la Sierra is part of the network of the magical towns of Spain.
This route runs through the Lozoya river basin and Sierra Norte, and the Guadalix river basin, sites classified as SCI (Site of Community Importance); as well as by the valley of Upper Lozoya, and the Soto de Viñuelas, areas protected as SPA (Special Protection Area) in the Natura 2000 network.
Day 1.- Transportation to Montejo de la Sierra. Ride from Montejo to Bustarviejo (40 km), by the Lozoya river basin and Sierra Norte, and the valley of Upper Lozoya. Visit to the walls of Buitrago de Lozoya. Lodging.
Day 2.- Ride from Bustarviejo to Tres Cantos (46 km), by the Guadalix river basin, Navalvillar grassland and Soto de Viñuelas. Transportation back home.
