This is a weekend, linear route, with two days of easy ride for moderate cyclists, starting in Tudela (Navarre), that runs along the left bank of the Imperial Canal of Aragon, an engineering work of the eighteenth century that irrigated the southern gardens of the river Ebro.
Originally, it wanted to reach the sea, where it never arrived, because it ends at Fuentes de Ebro, just few km from the capital of Aragon. We ride on the service road that goes parallel to the canal until Zaragoza: the rest loses much interest. We visit gates, outlets, beacons and locks, bridges, and the Palace of Carlos V, and pedal all over the spectacular river Jalon aqueduct.
This route runs through River Ebro, a site classified as SCI (Site of Community Importance) in the Natura 2000 network.
Day 1.- Transportation to Tudela. Ride from Tudela to Alagón (62 km). Visits to the Lock House, Pignatelli's dam and the Palace of Carlos V. Lodging.
Day 2.- Ride from Alagón to Zaragoza (44 km). Visits to the aqueduct of the river Jalón, and the lock and watermill of Casablanca, once in Zaragoza. Transportation back home.
ADAPTABLE itinerary for FAMILIES.
