The palace of the Marquises of Legarda in Ambite
This is a four-day linear route for intermediate cyclists, starting at the Arganda del Rey metro station and following a greenway through the Tajuña Valley. At the end, we immerse ourselves in the Alcarria landscape and reach the charming villages of Pastrana and Olmeda de las Fuentes, where we spend the night.
The next day, we resume the route, visiting the impressive Nuevo Baztán project, from where we follow a traditional livestock trail that leads us to Alcalá de Henares, a UNESCO World Heritage City.
Since 1998 the University and the Historic Precinct of Alcalá de Henares, are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
This route runs through the plains, hills, and plateaus of southeastern Madrid, the Sierra de Altomira mountain range, and the Jarama and Henares river basins, protected areas designated as Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) within the Natura 2000 network.
Day 1.- Transport to Arganda del Rey. Ride from Arganda to Mondéjar (56 km), by the Tajuña greenway. Lodging.
Day 2.- Ride from Mondéjar to Pastrana (40 km). Visit to the visigothic city of Recópolis. Lodging.
Day 3.- Ride from Pastrana to Olmeda de las Fuentes (38 km). Visits to the la Pica oak tree, or the Visitors Center of la Alcarria madrileña in Olmeda. Lodging.
Day 4.- Ride from Olmeda to Alcalá de Henares (42 km). Visit to the al Visitors Center of Nuevo Baztán. Transportation back home.
